Lantern Workshops

Using willow and tissue paper, children and adults alike worked hard to create some beautiful lanterns at the recent workshops held at West Kirby Library. These should all look gorgeous in the Lantern Parade on November 11th - truly a glowing trail of moving lights!

The workshops proved so popular that we had to turn people away - apologies to those who were unable to attend. However EVERYONE is welcome to come to the parade itself, with or without a lantern. Thanks to the staff at the library who were very helpful and supportive of the event and on the day itself.

The Lantern has it's cultural roots in Japanese lantern making and Dutch tradition. It reflects our dedication to building community by exploring old and creating new cultural traditions. In preparation for the Lantern Parade, Spontaneous Celebrations and community members host lantern making workshops in which youth and adults of all ages create beautiful hand made lanterns from recycled soda bottles decorated with colorful tissue paper.
