Welcome to the latest TTWK update. Details below of our upcoming events as well as news of what will hopefully be the first of many tree planting sessions.
This Monday November 17 at 8pm we have our evening dedicated to Birds and Bees. Our expert speakers are Michael Minter from the Cheshire Beekeepers Association and local chicken keeper and allotment holder Roger Merry. Cakes and refreshments will be available and admission is free so even if you have no ambitions to become a bee or chicken keeper come along and join in the fun. The venue is the United Reformed Church hall on the corner of Meols Drive and Bridge Road.
On Saturday, November 22 we are having a celebratory tree planting day in association with the Friends of Grange Community Park. The park can be accessed via Lang Lane and the tree planting runs from 10am-3pm. Wear wellies and, if possible, bring a spade. However, spectators will also be very welcome. Refreshments will be provided so, if you can, let us know if you are attending.
A reminder that Saturday November 29th marks our all important working groups formation day. This is your chance to share your ideas and help put them into action. Whatever your passion for helping achieve a more resilient community come along and contribute in whatever way you can. Working groups will be formed on the day with the aim of making projects happen.
The event starts at 2pm at the United Reformed Church hall and will be run using Open Space which is a hugely enjoyable self organising method (watch a 3 minute introduction here). If you can’t make the start feel free to join in later in the afternoon and if you can’t make it at all on the day but want to get involved then please send us your details beforehand including what areas would be of specific interest to you.
Finally, if you participated in the very successful lantern making workshops you can read a report and see some photos on our blog site while anyone who missed our evening dedicated to small business and local economy can download the presentations here.
