If you are concerned about the closure of libraries etc being proposed by the council, there does seem to be a possible alternative which hasn't been considered so far - the Sustainable Communities Act 2007. If you want more information about this, look at http://www.localworks.org/ . The Act was passed last year and is potentially extremely useful in creating a more resilient society. However, we can only use it locally if it is adopted by Wirral Council. TTWK has come up with a template letter which explains the Act a little more to Councillors and asks them to consider using the powers given to the council by the Act to protect the services which are under threat. This is published below.
