TTWK update

A reminder below of our tree planting session this Saturday, details of our working group activities and a few other items of interest.

Our tree planting day is at Grange Community Park off Lang Lane this Saturday. February 14th. The event runs from 10:30 to 3.30 so turn up anytime, preferably wearing wellies and carrying a spade. A hearty lunch will be provided.

Thanks to those who have already agreed to sponsor a tree for a loved one. The cost is just £15 per tree so why not forego a Valentine’s card and create a lasting gift to someone you love and help TTWK into the bargain.

Our working groups are now up and running. Contact details for all of our groups are available here.

The food group met on 11th February to discuss setting up some local food projects. They discussed, amongst other things, foraging, chicken-keeping, community allotments, a virtual orchard, a map of local unpicked fruit trees, growing veg in small places and gardening in schools. The group will research a range of possible projects, and present them at our next event on the 21st March, inviting comment, discussion and expressions of interest. Ideas from this event will be used to choose which projects get underway and further details will be available soon.

The Transport Group is promoting the lift share scheme which is an easy way to save energy and money. Already there are 135 opportunities to lift share around West Kirby with many more across Wirral.

The first meeting of the Energy Group takes place on Wednesday, February 18th at 8pm in the White Lion pub on Grange Road. For further details, email Louise.

The next meeting for those interested in all matters associated with Health and Wellbeing takes place on February 25th. Further details from Hara on 632 3261.

The first of the wild life walks organised by Sue Craggs was a great success with 25 participants. The next takes place this Saturday so if this appeals to you more than tree planting then check out all the details.

Finally, for those of you unaware, Sue Harrison runs a wonderful scheme whereby those who use Ecover cleaning products can have their empty bottles refilled. Not only does this cut down on waste but prices are significantly lower than in the shops. Further details from Sue on 625 8535.
