With thanks to funding from Wirral Partnership Homes, Transition Town West Kirby celebrated ‘all things Transition’ on Saturday 21st March – and what a joy it was!
The event kicked off with a glass of bubbly on arrival and a brief introduction to the night ahead. Some drumming opened the evening and was quickly followed by local performing artists who got everyone involved with their performances. Su Grainger from ‘Singing our Socks off’ had everyone singing harmony songs, which sounded amazing (even for those of us who said we definitely couldn’t sing!) The Loose Moose String Band entertained us until they had the room rocking and local DJ Ian, from from ‘Sounds Good Roadshow’ provided a disco in between. The hall was decorated with spring flowers and everyone was invited to share their ideas for positive change in West Kirby, using a fun and creative approach made available on each table. The bar was open, we all brought fantastic food to share and gave a donation for the evening. And of course, there was dancing and singing until it was time to leave the party!
When community members come together in this simple act of sharing and promoting a new and sustainable way of living, it’s amazing what we can all do to enhance each other’s lives and make positive changes to our environment.
