Lantern Workshop
This workshop is tomorrow October 3rd 11am-4pm at the Scout Hut, Grange Community Park (top of Lang Lane). Design and build your own lantern in preparation for the Travelling Light procession to be held on November 11th. This workshop is for any age. Over 30 people are already booked in but there are still a few places left. Booking essential. Tel 625 8474. Participation is free but donations welcome.

Fair Trade and Transition Towns: Are they compatible?
St Bridgets church West Kirby is holding a bring and share harvest lunch this Sunday followed by a discussion on the above topic. Bring some food to share for lunch at 12:15 followed by a debate from 1-2pm. Everyone welcome.

Patrick Holden Visit
‘Food and Farming in Transition’, with Patrick Holden, Director of the Soil Association. 25th November at 8pm at Westbourne Hall, Westbourne Road, CH48 4DQ. A chance for producers and consumers to come together and discuss how local food can be supported.
Spaces for this event are limited to just 200 and are already selling fast. Recipients of this newsletter have the opportunity to reserve tickets via our on-line reservation form or by calling 632 5366. Tickets cost £3.50 each.

Allotments
Thanks to so many of you for signing the petition asking for land in West Kirby to be made available for allotments. At a meeting of the council's Sustainable Communities Committee, councillors resolved to endorse the development of a new site in West Kirby (and four others in Wirral), subject to further work by officers. We will be contacting those who offered to help get things started. For more info contact ttwk.food@gmail.com West Kirby Garden Orchard The vision is for a fruit tree in every garden in West Kirby. Fungus Foray
Advance notice of a local fungus foray, (provisional date Saturday 7th November). We are privileged to have mycologist Ted Tuddenham of the Famous Haringey Fungus Foray, to lead this. Community Orchard Tree Planting Day - Sat 21st Nov, 10am - 3.30pm Come and plant a fruit tree and help Wirral grow more local food. Bring your wellies and a spade if possible. Lunch provided. Perfect for gardeners with some experience wanting to expand their knowledge or an ideal first qualification for those wishing to pursue a career in horticulture.
