All of our upcoming events take place in the main hall of the United Reformed Church, Meols Drive with free admission (donations welcome) and refreshments available.
On Wednesday evening, October 29th we have an evening dedicated to local business and economy. We are very pleased to welcome Simon Snowden who is the UK’s leading expert on helping business to deal with the soaring cost of energy and preparing for future energy shocks. Simon will be focusing particularly on small business so this is a great opportunity to benefit from a leading authority in this field and to meet other local business people. You can read more about Simon’s work here.
There will also be a Transition Town perspective on our own local economy as an alternative to the business as usual approach. Everyone is welcome to come and share ideas and offer your own perspective on how we can positively respond to peak oil and climate change.
Returning to the theme of sourcing more food locally our “Birds & Bees” night will have expert speakers on keeping chickens and bees. There is the distinct possibility of some home baked honey cake so don’t be late! The fun starts at 8pm on November 17th.
An important milestone for TTWK arrives on Saturday November 29th. This marks the next stage of the Transition process where we form working groups to tackle specific areas and how we can practically move to creating a more resilient community. Examples of working groups formed at other initiatives include energy, food, transport, business and economy, local government, health and wellbeing.
So whatever your particular passion and however you want to contribute do come along and encourage others to do likewise. The agenda will be compiled on the day and the event will be run using Open Space which is a very empowering and engaging tool that you can read more about here. Kick off will be at 2pm.
