Transition Town West Kirby update

A brief bulletin including a reminder of Saturday’s event, a chance to catch TTWK on the airwaves, some updates on our recent events plus details of a festive walk around West Kirby.

This Saturday November 29 marks our working groups formation day. This is your chance to share your ideas and to help put them into action. We commence at 2pm and aim to finish no later than 4.30pm. Free admission and refreshments will be available. The venue is the main hall at the URC on Meols Drive.

There will be a full report on the outcomes in our next update but, if you want to play a part in creating a more resilient community and can’t make it on the day, please let us know in advance with an indication of your areas of interest.

7 Waves radio will be devoting the community hour on Tuesday, December 2 at 7pm to TTWK. You can tune in on 92.1 FM or via the internet.

To add to our existing details on keeping chickens you can now download lot’s of useful information on keeping bees from our website. This follows on from our Birds and Bees event on November 17. Click here to see some photos including one of the evening’s star turn, Ginger!

You can also enjoy some pictorial reminders of the hugely successful tree planting session last weekend. A wide variety of fruit and nut trees were planted which will be a source of local food for decades to come. Thanks to everyone who participated.

TTWK will be taking a break from public activities during December as our working groups get settled in. However, we have organised a pre-Christmas ramble around West Kirby. Meet at 2pm Sunday 21st on the Concourse 'Plaza' i.e. ouside the Library - distance 4.5 miles - time 1.5 / 2 hours - route: circular walk to Caldy Hill, then down Fleck Lane to the Wirral Way, and back around the Marine Lake.
