TTWK update

Welcome to the latest TTWK update. There is lots to report this month but keep reading for some really big news.

This Sunday April 26th you can enjoy a Transition Takeaway at the visitor centre, Wirral Country Park in Thurstaston. There will be information about local food, with tastings and recipes. The event also features seed planting for children and you can take away a cost-price starter vegetable garden with seeds and full planting instructions. There will also be a Bach flower remedy stall and the chance to measure your own carbon footprint. The event runs from 11am-4pm.

On Wednesday May 6th we have what promises to be a great event on greening your home. We will have presentations on home insulation, wood burning stoves and solar hot water systems. You can get further details and download the event poster here. The location is the URC church hall on Meols Drive starting at 7.30pm. Admission free, donations welcome.

TTWK will also feature at two upcoming fairs in West Kirby. The details are:
Sat Mar 2nd 10am-3pm, West Kirby Spring Festival Fair Coronation Gardens, South Parade, West Kirby Bank Holiday Mon 4th May - 11am. to 4pm Ashton Park May Fair

If you enjoyed our recent Joys of Spring event you will no doubt now be a fan of The Loose Moose string band. On Tuesday May 5th there will be a Transition social event at the Hilbre Court pub on Banks Road. This will neatly coincide with a performance by Loose Moose just after 9pm. All welcome, bring a friend from 8.30pm.

TTWK recently made a detailed submission to Wirral Council’s Core Strategy consultation. You can read our submission here.

We are delighted to announce that Patrick Holden the Director of The Soil Association will be coming to West Kirby on the evening of Wednesday, July 8th. Full details to be announced in due course but this will be a great chance to listen to a nationally respected expert in the field of organic farming and sustainable food production.

This event will precede the official unleashing of Transition Town West Kirby on Saturday July 11th. This is an important milestone in the evolution of TTWK and will be marked by a range of events. Again, full details nearer the time but please note it in your diary now as there will be something for everyone to enjoy on the day.
