Transition Timeline
On Thursday August 20th we are holding a Transition Timeline event. A transition timeline is a mapping of our future progress towards our goal of a low-carbon West Kirby. Come and join us as we vision our future and work back to the practical steps we need to take today to achieve this.

The event takes place at the URC on Meols Drive at 7.30pm. Admission free and everyone is welcome.

The Transition movement has published its very own Transition Timeline. Read all about it here.

Garden Orchard project
Our garden orchard project is progressing at some speed so don’t delay if you want to get involved. We will be providing fruit and nut trees this autumn at a discounted price and creating a network of people to help plant, care for and harvest these trees. Would you like to buy a tree for your garden or help other people to look after theirs? For more information visit our website.

As part of the project we will be having another tree planting day in Grange Community Park on November 21st 10am-4pm. This was a hugely popular and enjoyable event last year so mark your diary now. Please get in touch if you would like to sponsor a tree for a loved one.

Patrick Holden Visit
‘Food and Farming in Transition’, with Patrick Holden, Director of the Soil Association. 25th November at 8pm at Westbourne Hall, Westbourne Road, CH48 4DQ. A chance for producers and consumers to come together and discuss how local food can be supported.
This is sure to be a popular event and spaces are limited. Recipients of this newsletter have the opportunity to reserve tickets via our on-line reservation form or by calling 632 5366. Tickets cost £3.50 each.

New allotment in West Kirby
We would like to submit a petition asking that the council allows us to develop allotments on unused public land near West Kirby tip. Please sign our petition.

Skill sharing
A group of people are interested in getting together and learning new food skills in a fun environment. We currently have offers of teaching how to bake bread and make preserves. Please contact ttwk.food@gmail.com if you would like to know more.

TTWK at Coronation Gardens
On Saturday September 12th from 10.30 to 3.30pm, there will be a charities and community event in Coronation Gardens. Would anyone like to help man a stall there for TTWK?

Lantern Workshop
Design and build your own lantern in preparation for the Travelling Light procession to be held on November 11th. This workshop is for any age but particularly suited to teenagers and others wishing to build adventurous lantern sculptures. Bring your own ideas and designs.

The workshop is on October 3rd 11am-4pm at the Scout Hut, Grange Community Park (top of Lang Lane). Participation is free but donations welcome.

Community bike ride
Finally, a reminder that the West Kirby community bike ride continues each Sunday at 3pm. Everyone welcome.
