TTWK update

A quick update with details below on Thursday’s Lantern Parade, a report on the recent Hoylake Food Fair and our Fungus Foray in West Kirby.

Lantern Parade this Thursday

The Lantern Parade is meeting at 5.30pm this Thursday  at Coronation Gardens.  If it is fine we will walk around the Marine Lake. If it is windy and damp we will just walk the prom.  If the weather is really bad we will adjourn to the URC on Meols Drive.  If you need any further details please call Hara on 07790 643 216.

Please also remember that if you would like a hot drink at the end of the walk to BRING A MUG or CUP along with you!  Otherwise we cannot guarantee you a warming cuppa.

Hoylake Food Fair

Hoylake Local Food Fair was a great success last week, when 2,200 local people turned up to buy a huge range of local food from 24 producers based in Wirral, Cheshire and North Wales.  Some of the ingredients on sale were showcased in cooking demonstrations by award-winning chef Colin Parry of La Paz restaurant in West Kirby.

Plans are already afoot for the next one in the Spring, hopefully leading on to a regular farmers' market which will support the local economy and offer a real alternative to supermarket shopping.  For the next event Hoylake Community Centre will open additional rooms to offer stalls to a few more producers, but to also to give a lot more room between the stalls for people to circulate.

The event was organised in partnership with Hoylake Community Centre, and with permission from Birkenhead Market and support from Wirral Council.  Much of its success was down to help from volunteers in the local community, who really rallied behind it, with dozens of people offering to deliver flyers in their own streets beforehand and stewarding on the day.

Visit this link to see how you can help with this - even if your time is limited, there will be something you can contribute.

Fungus Foray

And finally, if you were one of the 40 or so people who took part in the recent fungus foray you can enjoy some photos of the event here.
