TTWK update

Annual General Party
A warm invitation to everyone who supports Transition to our first AGP!
ANNUAL GENERAL PARTY
 - on FRIDAY 9TH MARCH

 - at the former Unitarian Church, Brookfield Gardens, West Kirby. CH48 4EL
Join us for a varied convivial evening:
7.00pm Drinks and home made nibbles
7.30pm 'Honouring Our Elders'.  A film with Friends of Grange Community Park.  Local youngsters learn from elderly residents, highlighting aspects of resilient local life we can re-learn.
8.15pm Formalities, including electing Core Group members, annual accounts and adopting an amendment to the constitution*.
8.30pm Celebrating our Successes and Failures: review of the past year and Songs & Poems for Conviviality, open session compared by locally grown musician Jimmy Rae.

Please bring some food and drink to share (if possible home made or bought from a local independent shop.

If you would like to help the Yellow Mellow Group set up, come any time from 5.30pm.

Let us know if you are interested in joining the Core Group or joining (or even starting!) another group.

If you need to come by car please don't park in Brookfield Gardens - you can park at The Concourse or along Carpenter's Lane.

Food Fair Volunteers needed

Hoylake Food Fair is coming up at the end of the month (below).  The day is made possible by volunteer helpers, with profits going to support Hoylake Community Centre and Transition West Kirby projects.  If you're able to help for half an hour on the day, please fill in our online form or email Margaret at ttwk.food@gmail.com.

We have bought about thirty fruit trees and some currant bushes to make a new orchard In Meols Park
Come and help us plant them! Bring a spade if you have one!

Community Woodlands

Bring your community together to plant free trees from the Woodland Trust - and grow your own food and firewood, create new homes for wildlife and bring beautiful autumn colour to your local area.  Find out more from Sue Green - Woodland Trust Education Project Officer.

Hoylake Local Food Fair

Sunday 26th Feb, 10 am to 2pm
A repeat of the very popular Food Fair at Hoylake Community Centre, Meols Parade. Buy from a huge variety of fresh and seasonal food brought directly to you by local producers. This time there'll be new stalls selling handmade sushi, vegetarian patés, chillies, fresh fish, pizzas, game pies and more.  Keep an eye on our local food website to see who will be there.
There will be free cookery demos running throughout the day from the head chef at Monte Carlo restaurant in Hoylake.

Please circulate this email, speak to friends and family about the food fair, and if you can, print out and put up the poster somewhere - in your office at work or local shop, church, school etc.

More Songs on Toast
Wednesday 29th Feb, 5.30pm
Enjoy another evening of songs and poetry at Toast cafe by West Kirby station from 5.30pm. Everyone welcome.

Foraging for Razor Clams
Friday 9th March
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall describes them as "wonderful, succulent shellfish" in his recipe Razor Clams with Chorizo.
Depending on the weather we intend to go out clamming on the evening of Friday 9th March (about 5pm) with a reserve date of Saturday 10th March (about 6pm).  Depending on demand, we could also go out on the morning of Sunday 11th March (6am - to catch the tide!).  To book a place and for further details - ttwk.food@gmail.com.
